With the ever increasing number of hi-tech crimes that seem to be taking place these days, it is blatantly obvious that the criminal underworld within our society are making concerted efforts to get ‘tech-savvy’ in their attempts to either clone our identities, pillage our bank accounts, abuse our credit cards or simply steal from us!!!

However, recent events have managed to bring a smile to my face amidst all of the fear that many people hold in regards to technology and their personal security.  It also demonstrates how the average petty thief will have to ‘up their game’ considerably if they plan to continue their chosen life of crime!!!!

A close friend recently had their car stolen from off of their driveway.  Amongst other personal items including a full set of Callaway Tour golf clubs, they had an ipad2 stored in the boot of the vehicle.  The thieves must have thought they’d hit the jackpot as they sped off into the night.  Luckily, the friend in question had activated the ‘Find my ipad’ feature and lo and behold, the very next day the location of their beloved tablet was visible – and duly passed on to the local police.  After a flurry of activity (involving a plethora of flashing blue lights) the house denoted by the flashy dot was swooped upon and there was the young tea-leaf complete with stolen ipad!!!  Unfortunately, no sign of the vehicle here, but the leads obtained from the unsuspecting vagabond have enabled the police to locate his accomplices and ultimately, the car!!!!

“How the hell did you find me?” was the shriek from the young chap when arrested by police at his front door – “I was only playing Angry Birds!!!  Who’s grassed me up?”

Technology has my son, technology!!!!!
